Salted Caramel S'Mores

Smores-4th-of-July-Soymilk- -Honey.jpg

Nothing says summer like a s'more. Slightly burned marshmallows (they obviously need to be a bit burned, right?), melted chocolate, and crunchy graham crackers. The smoke of the campfire in your face, the buzz of the bugs around your legs..ok, maybe campfires aren't always what they're cracked up to be..but it's all totally worth it for the outcome. But you know what makes them better? Caramel. Scratch that. Salted caramel.Salted Caramel S'Mores | Soymilkandhoney.com Gooey, salty, and full of flavor. This delicious salted caramel sauce is easy to make and adds so much to the s'more. They're totally messy, but totally delicious. You may want to bring a few napkins with you, because you will definitely be making a bit of a mess.Salted Caramel Smore

Add a little extra flavor to the usual campfire s'more with this delicious salted caramel sauce.
Ingredients
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions
  1. In a heavy saucepan, combine the sugar and water over medium-low heat until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Increase the heat and bring to a boil, without stirring. Boil until the syrup is a deep amber color, about 5 to 6 minutes. Keep an eye on it, as it can burn rather quickly.
  3. Remove the sugar from the heat and carefully whisk in the heavy cream. Be prepared, because the mixture will bubble.
  4. Stir in the unsalted butter, and salt.
  5. Transfer the caramel to a dish and cool.

We last enjoyed these delicious s'mores up in a little town in Idaho called McCall. They were delicious and we will definitely be resisting them for Labor Day!Salted Caramel S'More (Smore)
